Sun, 20oct2024 - So proud of the extended U14 team today. The score of 6:9 to 4:9 tells you immediately that it was a fiercely fought final. Both teams wanted to win so much.
An historic win: the first final win/trophy/plate of any juvenile team in the club, ever. We will ensure the club recognises this. 🏆
Our trademark ‘surging’ play was much in evidence. Captain, player of the match & main goal scorer Dearbhla Boyle was superb, very precise, very skillful. At the start of the match she told her team mates to give their all & they really did.
Ellie & AoibhĂn joined us from U12 & had great games. Our new team members Zoe, Baija, Ruby M and Ruby B had great games. So delighted to have them.
Martha & RĂłisĂn Kelly had huge games turning over so many balls to comnence the great runs that Dearbhla, RĂ©alta Mossy & the two Niamhs achieved. Maria joined us again from retirement using her great stamina & fitness.
The new defensive back line of Zoe, Eloise & Ruby B was rock solid: a great success. RĂłisĂn G was great in goals as always.
Luboba, Baija, AoibhĂn, Ruby M operated very effectively at the front.
The wind constituted a third force on the field. As O’Casey would say ‘it blowed and it blowed’! The girls understood that we had to maximise our scores with a fast moving kicking game in the first half while we had the wind with us, & move to a passing, attritional game in the second half. Their achievement was to play those two different games with consistent intensity.
