The week after the May Bank Holiday weekend has been a busy one for 5 out of the 6 St Brendan’s Adult teams, so here is a summary of what's been happening.

Tuesday May 2nd

Football 1sts Away v Man O War

The Football 1st XV, sponsored by The Skylon Hotel, made the Tuesday evening visit to Man O War. The home side had last years Dublin Under 20 team captain Conor Dolan in the starting XV and was, in essence, the conductor and the soloist in the opening 20 minutes by hitting 2 goals and 2 points which contributed to the 7 point half time lead.

The Dark Force’s mantra of Never Give Up came to the fore and Justin McCormack moved Nicky McCafferty from corner back to wing forward and yielded a vital second half point. Oisin O Boyle kept winning frees and slotting them over, plus Luke ‘The Miracle Worker’ McDonagh and Diarmuid Cooney worked miracles to keep the side in the contest heading into the climax.

Going into the final minute of injury time, St Brendan's lead 0-16 to 2-9, but Man O’War scored, what looked to be, a last-minute smash and grab goal, but there was plenty of injury time played and points from Brendan Brogan and Cillian Morrison levelled matters and five minutes in injury time, John Burns has a 55 meter free in to win it for St Brendan’s but while the distance was good, the accuracy wasn’t and drifted wide and the referee blew for full time and a share of the spoils.

Wednesday May 3rd

Ladies Football 1sts Away v Westmantown Gaels

The Ladies 1sts, sponsored by McGowans put their undefeated record on the when travelling to the Garda Sports and recreation club to face Westmanstown Gaels.

After 15 minutes, it looked like The female Dark Force were going to kiss goodbye to their undefeated record when Westmanstwon raced into a 7 point to no score lead. It took the team a while to get started by counter attacking with strong runs up midfield, right tackling in defense and accurate scoring in the forwards. A hard fought second half with a brilliant team effort to maintain the team's undefeated record.

Ladies Football 2nds Home v Round Towers Clondalkin

Round Towers Clondalkin went into this game having returned scores of 8-15, 5-7, 9-11 and 4-15 in the four games so far this season. In contrast, The Female Darkest Force have yet to win this season, but have posted encouraging returns of 3-8 and 2-5 in their past two fixtures against Kilmacud Crokes C and St Annes respectively.

But questions will be asked over why Round Towers Clondalkin are in Division 8 in the first place when hitting 6-16 to St Brendan’s 2 points scored by Anne Marie Casey and Marie Moloney. Let’s hope the Dublin LGFA do to Towers what they did to St Brendan’s in 2018 and bump up the team 2 or 3 divisions.

Thursday May (the) 4th (be with you)

Football 2nds Home v St Margaret’s

Hoping to bounce back from a disappointing 6 point loss to Round Towers Lusk on April 21st, The Football 2nd XV, in partnership with Stoneybatter Pride of Place, were back in Longmeadows to face bottom of the table St Margaret’s.

Played in cold and very wet weather, The Darkest Force hit the ground running and ran out 4-13 to 0-12 winners and the scorers were:

Sean Whyte 0-4, Brian Hobbins 1-4, Ferdia Donohoe 1-3, Donal Clarke 0-1, Eoin ‘The Danger Man’ McAuley 1-0 and Kevin ‘The Philadelphia 76er’ Berry 1-0.

Camogie away v Clontarf

After picking up their second victory of the season against Lucan Sarsfields 3-10 to 2-2, the St Brendan’s Camogie team had high hopes going into tonight's fixture with top of the table Clontarf who were 5 from 5 going into the fixture.

Clontarf showed why they are top of Junior 4 by hitting five goals against St Brendan’s who in return scored a respectable 13 points.
