The Adult Football Leagues in both Mens Football and Hurling reached its conclusion in the month of July, While the Championship continued for the Ladies Football 2nd and 3rd teams, here’s a round up with what’s been happening in the first half of July.

Sunday July 2nd

The Men's Football 1st XV, Sponsored by Dynamic Safety Solutions, traveled to Farnham Drive in Finglas to face Erins Isle in a must win game to keep hopes of a promotion play off alive. Unfortunately, at the end of 60 minutes of action, The Dark Force were beaten on a scoreline of 1-14 to 2-8 in a result described by The Connaught Telegraph Jonathan Melvin as ‘Disastrous’ which ended all hopes of a promotion play off. 

Monday July 3rd

Three teams were in action this evening all away

In Saggart, The Ladies Football 3rd XV faced the local side St Mary’s Saggart, hoping to improve from their opening match last week against Na Gaeil Aeracha, like last Monday, The Female Darker than Dark Force scored only 2 points, but the teams defense improved quite a lot from 7 days ago with a concession of 5 goals and 17 points, yes the team by have lost no doubt there will be a lot of learnings going forward.

10 Miles north east in Tymon North, The Ladies Football 2nd XV faced St Judes and made it 2 from 2 in the Junior H Championship in winning 4-8 to 1-7

The Mens Football 2nd XV, in partnership with Stoneybatter Pride of Place, travelled to Garristown for an AFL10 which was a dead rubber in essence, but handy preparation for the upcoming Junior 6 All County Championship, The Darkest Force snapped a rotten run of losses for the male section of the club by returning a win on a final score of 1-7 to 0-7 with James McGee getting the goal and Malachi Doyle with a surging run from corner back and a silky score. Doyle also praised the players on the huge effort and being calm on the ball.

Tuesday July 4th

The St Brendan’s Hurlers, sponsored by Bodibro bid for Division 6 Hurling in 2024, faltered at the final hurdle in 12th Lock in Lucan this evening as Lucan Sarsfields joined Kilmacud Crokes in promotion from AHL7 with a resounding 3-22 to 1-17 win over The Dark Force in which Cian Walsh admitted that both Lucan and Kilmacud were the best teams in the Division and deserved to go up. Attention turns to the Junior C Championship on July 16th and an away fixture against Na Gaeil Óga.

Wednesday July 5th

The Ladies Football 1st XV, sponsored by McGowan’s show no signs of easing up not one jot when cruising to a comprehensive 7-8 to 1-5 victory over Foxrock Cabinteely in Longmeadows.

Sunday July 9th.

With the chance of promotion gone, The Men’s Football 1st XV took on Geraldine P Morans on a Sunday Morning in Longmeadows, with the away side giving their promotion push a shot in the arm with a 2-12 to 0-9 victory.

Monday July 10th

With the Ladies 2nds not in action, after receiving a walkover off St Sylvesters, The Ladies Football 3rds were the only team in action this evening as they travelled to Dolphin Park on the Crumlin Road and a fixture against Templeogue Synge Street. Once again defeat was the Female Darker than Dark Forces lot this evening, but an encouraging performance nonetheless with the home side winning 3-9 to 1-6 with Niamh McCarthy going down in St Brendan’s folklore by scoring the 3rds first ever goal. 

Tuesday July 11th

Justin McCormack, Martin Ryan, John Tuffy and Jonathan Melvin were all hell bent on ensuring the Mens Football 1st XV end the AFL5 campaign on the best note possible when travelling to Lawless Park in Swords and a fixture against Fingallians. The management quartet will be extremely satisfied with the outcome this evening, none more so than McCormack, as The Dark Force returned a comfortable 2-20 to 0-7 victory over poor opposition with Niall Mc Manus and Nicky McCafferty raising the green flags. Attention turns to the Junior 1 Club Championship on August 13th when St Brendan's face Wanderers.

Thursday July 13th

Staying on North County Dublin this time to Malahide, and the Mens Football 2nd XV had their final AFL10 North fixture against St Sylvesters, but unfortunately The Darkest Force went down 5-13 to 3-8. The Milltown Four Star James McGee got one goal and The Blacksod Lighthouse Killian Dixon slotted a goal from the penalty spot. The Darkest Forces first game in the Junior 6 South All County Championship will be in Friday August 11th at home to St Mary's Saggart.
